Tanner Springs Park is one of my favorite spots in the city, and I can never resist pulling out a camera when I’m taking a walk through it. I absolutely adore the angular, zagging walkway and its companion undulating railroad track wall.
The light here in the wintertime is very good. Portland light has a different character than the light I grew up with, being so much farther north. When the air is cold and the sun is low, it bounces off the facades of buildings in the Pearl District and bathes Tanner Springs Park in a glow I find irresistible.
